Project summary:

It’s your world. Step up and be heard.

Bright Green Future is our youth leadership programme for 15 to 19 year olds, focusing on sustainable energy. Over the course of two years participants will gain skills, understanding and practical experience which will help them shape the future of their neighbourhoods. The programme includes:

  • online and face-to-face training on sustainable energy and engaging with decision making processes
  • delivery of local low carbon projects with mentoring support from CSE
  • work placements and shadowing of professionals in organisations and roles affecting environmental policy
  • a four day residential summer school with expert speakers, hands on activities and workshops.

It is a fantastic opportunity for young people to gain unique work experience, training and support to achieve long term positive change. On completion, participants will be recognised as fellows of this national programme for a new generation of environmental decision-makers.

Project outcomes:

  • Four cohorts of 50 young people will gain skills and knowledge in sustainable energy projects and policy that will accelerate their development as future environmental leaders
  • Participation in environmental consultations and insight into local and national decision making will empower participants to influence and shape plans that affect their environment
  • Delivery of small low carbon energy projects will help participants to gain experience running local energy projects and develop their project management skills
  • Local projects will also have positive local outcomes for sustainability of the local environment, community engagement and resilience.
