16 year old Billy joined Fife’s Our Bright Future in April 2017, with the aim of attending a handful of sessions before re-engaging with school. He had been unhappy with the school environment and had no plans to sit his upcoming exams. However, he attended all the Our Bright Future sessions and often staying late! This led to him requesting to work with the team long term. He is now working towards a Level 2 Modern Apprenticeship in rural skills and estate management. As part of this programme he works alongside a group of volunteers, many with additional support needs. Not only is he gaining confidence and accredited training, he is empathetic and engaging with the additional needs group. He is also gaining accredited industry recognised training whilst gaining practical work experience.
