17 year old Emile had finished school. He didn’t want to go to college but couldn’t get an apprenticeship due to his lack of experience. He came from an area with a long history of youth violence, but he was determined to find something hands on to do with his time. His Welcome to the Green Economy placement was at a furniture upcycling workshop. Despite starting with no experience, he enjoyed learning woodwork and customer service skills. His confidence rocketed and he really thrived in his role. Having completed his placement, he successfully secured a Facilities Assistant job at Groundwork London!
