25 year old Amy was a student at the University of Central Lancashire when she started volunteering at SCRAN (Students Creating Resources Around Nutrition), the university’s Student Eats project. SCRAN is a student-led social enterprise that provides nutrition workshops on campus and in the community. Following her voluntary role, Amy got a paid internship at SCRAN. During her internship she planned events, learnt admin skills and organised community outreach. The achievement that she’s most proud of is planning and delivering school ‘Cook and Eat’ workshops in with Preston City Council. This meant she could make a real difference to people at risk of food poverty. Amy was also over the moon that the university adopted a SCRAN recipe for the canteen menu! Having completed her internship, she has now got a job as a Community Development Coordinator.
