Farhana Real Stories Groundwork London
23 year old Farhana was a chemistry graduate but was unsure how to progress with her career. Whilst at university she had enjoyed volunteering, so she was keen to get back out in the community. She took a temporary teaching assistant job, but it didn’t feel quite right for her. Groundwork visited the school and ran a session which inspired her to get involved.  She soon began a placement at Welcome to the Green Economy and was able to learn a lot of new skills. Suddenly she was leading sessions, managing petty cash, planning events and building relationships with many schools. Following her placement, she successfully applied for the role of Community Project Officer. She is now leading on multiple housing estate improvement plans, managing staff and liaising with residents.
‘It has really opened my eyes to the opportunities available in the Green Economy and the jobs out there that I didn’t know existed.’
